Abstract EN

This article is a study on the role played by interpreters who, throughout history, have been indispensable mediators between speakers of different languages.

Indeed, their role has always been key in order to ensure communication between human beings.

Interpreters have enjoyed special status, as different and varied as peoples and languages, given this very role played in the political, military and commercial sphere and their contribution to the diffusion of languages and religions.

This article also addresses the various stages of the development of interpretation in terms of time and space with a special focus on Paris Peace Conference marking, with the emergence of the most important international organizations and bodies between the two world wars and the creation of their own interpretation services, the beginning of interpretation as a profession.

Over time, simultaneous interpretation, identified with the "Nuremberg" trials, made its appearance and became the favorite type of interpretation for many international organizations that hold meetings in different languages given the shortened time and the number of working languages it offers at the same time.
