Abstract EN

This study is aimed at revealing the impact of the intelligent mental arithmetic program in the development of the mental abilities and the mathematical achievement for the basic School students.

The study uses the semiexperimental approach to identify the impact of the program in the development of the mental abilities and achievement.

And the descriptive approach to identify the parents' estimates for the role of the program.

The study sample contains of (21) students form the second and the third grades and their parents.

A mental abilities test was prepared for the students, whereas a questionnaire for the parents.

The study also uses the school grades of the final math exams.

The study results show that there are statistically significant differences between the two average scores of the study sample in the application of the pre-test and the post-test of mental abilities in favor for the post application.

There were no statistically differences between the application of the pre-test and post-test of mathematics achievement.

The results also showed that the parents' estimate of the program’s role in the development of the mental abilities for their children was high with (86.1%).

The study recommends benefiting from the training program to enrich the content of math books.

It also recommends the employment of the abacus as a part of the teaching assistance used by mathematics teachers and holding workshops for professionals and experts to identify the positive aspects in the activities of the intelligent mental arithmetic program that can be of great value to the educational process
