Abstract EN

The research aims to expose the characteristics of friendship and it's role in the life of the University youth, and how youth choose friends from one sex or both sexes.

The descriptive analytical approach was used.

A questionnaire was designed to collect data.

The questionnaire consists of (20) terms in five axes; they are choice of friends, characters of friendship, role of the friendship in the youth's life, and choice of friends from one or both sexes.

The questionnaire was given to a sample of (120) members; (60) of them were from the Faculty of Education, and (60) from the faculty of Science.

(39) of them were males and (81) females.

The results were analyzed according to the sample.

Then a comparison was drawn between students (form Education and Science Faculties), and between the males and females.

The results shows there aren't basic differences between students or between males and females according to the values of (T- Test) and (CHI2) at the significant level (0,05).
