Abstract EN

This study aimed at identifying the views of the faculty members of the University of Shagra regarding riotous behavior at the university level and the proposed solutions to reduce it.

To achieve the objective of the study, the researcher has used a questionnaire consisting of 70 paragraphs divided into two parts: The first part measures the views of faculty members regarding riotous behaviour at the university level and it includes 49 paragraphs organized into three themes: riotous behaviour towards properties, riotous behaviour towards students and riotous behaviour towards faculty members.

The second part examines the proposed solutions to reduce riotous behaviour from the point of view of faculty members.

It consists of 21 paragraphs and it was distributed to a sample of faculty members of the University of Shagra involving 234 participants who represented 13% of the overall study population.

The results showed that the views of faculty members of the University of Shagra on the subject of riotous behaviour at the university level were high in all the study themes, namely riotous behaviour towards property, towards students and towards faculty members.

The results of the study showed no statistically-significant differences in faculty members’ views regarding the riotous behaviour of university students as a result of academic rank, gender and nationality variables.

In light of these results, the researcher has made a number of recommendations, including: the establishment of specialized centres to help faculty members to deal with their students and to understand their behaviour and their cultures and the ways to communicate with them
