Abstract EN

Cain is the first child of Eve, the first murderer, and the first human being to fall under a curse.

In Genesis, he refers to blood, sin and murder.

Later, psychoanalysts made Cain( and Abel) as an archetype of fratricide, the economists and sociologists made it a symbol of the conflict between the farmer and the shepherd.

This paper tends to trace the emergence of this myth in the religious texts especially Bible and Quran and in Arab contemporary poetry and its multiple significance.
