Abstract EN

The study observed the relationship between normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and irrigation water consumption through fifteen years (2000 -2015).

The area of cultivated lands was estimated as (1,596,381.9 acres), (1,585,611.8 acres), (1,516,859.2 acres) in the years (1984), (1998) and (2014) respectively.

Both (NDVI) and (ETa) were estimated from MODIS data.

(ETa) was estimated using (Penman Monteith) approach.

The result showed that the minimum NDVI value was (0.827) when the (ETa) was recorded as (142.54) mm/month in the year 2010.

At the same time, the maximum NDVI value was (0.899) when the (ETa) was recorded as (151.25) mm/month in the year 2007.

In the year (2006), NDVI value was (0.893) when (ETa) was (150.6) mm/month.
