Damascus and its suburbs have become one of major urban Agglomeration in the Arabian orient.

It includes more than 3.8 million people who make up about a fifth of the country's residents and about 35% of the population of its cities.

The problems of population, service, environment and security have exacerbated in Damascus rural governorates officials have become unable to provide primary services to their residents, especially in recent years.

This led us to identify the territory of Damascus according to the best international standards used in determining the regions of the cities, such as population growth standard, the commuting rate travel, and the intensity of transports and the number of the daily commuting trips between the capital and the urban centers in Rural Damascus governorate.

This research aims at develop a outlining a strategic plan to identify the growth of the city Damascus, and to develop the urban areas in it also aims at developing its the divers services and tourism, and achieving a balanced socio-economic development between Damascus, Rural Damascus and other urban centers within the capital.

The researcher adopted an analytical approach of data and modern data issued by the transport department in Damascus and Results Damascus of governorates.

The researcher gas used the results of the general population and housing censuses using a cartographic approach and satellite images of 2014 in addition to field surveys of passenger transport station in Damascus and Rural Damascus.

The researcher determines the capital territory which contain major Damascus and suburbs and external green belt region and the rest regions of the capital territory.
