Abstract EN

The objective of this study was to investigate the corporate governance practices in Algerian companies through an empirical analysis of the listed companies on the Algiers Stock Exchange, the latter is considered as one of the most important corporate governance mechanisms because of its regulation, control and supervision authorities.

The results revealed that the Algerian listed companies are generally committed to the best practices regulations mentioned in corporate governance principles in consistent with the nature of the Algerian business environment.

In addition, there has been a weakness in the role of Algiers Stock Exchange as a mechanism for applying governance practices.

Overall, we recommend setting up, as soon as possible, a code of best practices for corporate governance in Algeria, especially for listed companies
