Abstract EN

Knowledge of the different linguistic sub-disciplines can be put to more use if viewed from a text linguistics viewpoint - in which the principles of textuality play an integral part to improve the understanding of language as such.

Pragmatics plays a major role in the understanding of the study of texts and the intended meanings implied within these texts.

Intended meanings always occur in human interaction in almost every aspect in our lives which is unconsciously done.

In pragmatics this is defined as "speech act" which is basically described as type of action performed by a speaker with the utterance (Yule, 2006: 118).This paper investigates the speech of Allah in Sūrat al-Ḥujurāt.

The speech is selected for use because it involves a speaker and an audience and unlike other Suras, there is a direct and clear speech in all its eighteen āyāt which ride a full set of rules and limits include the assets, principles and approaches to sustain this world; and to ensure its beginning, and its final maintenance.

Such reason makes it a rich material To study the speech acts .

The pragmatic analysis adopted in this paper is based on the speech acts theory, following the five classifications by Seale (1975), with the aim of identifying the speech acts and the intended meanings of the sentences found in the speech
