This paper attempts to study the urban spontaneous practices that characterize the new city of Ali Mendjeli in Constantine whose existence is seventeen years only.
The urban practices that is not a new phenomenon in Algeria has been a subject of interest for many researchers in the field.
In fact, what differentiates our approach to this issue is the density of these practices in a new space that is supposed to provide a modern and adapted urban life framework.
This reality is due to the rehousing policy adopted by local authorities since the early 2000s.
Our research tries to determine the different forms of space appropriateness and its effects on the living environment of the inhabitants.

Cet article se propose d’étudier les pratiques urbaines spontanées qui caractérisent la ville nouvelle d’Ali Mendjeli prés de Constantine, alors qu’elle n’a que dix sept ans d’existence.
Le thème des pratiques urbaines n’est pas nouveau en Algérie.
Nombreux sont les auteurs qui se sont intéressés au phénomène, mais ce qui différencie notre approche c’est la densité de ces pratiques dans un espace nouveau censé offrir un cadre de vie urbain, moderne et adapté? En cause, la politique de relogement menée par les autorités locales depuis le début des années 2000.
Notre recherche tente de déterminer les différentes formes d’appropriation de l’espace et ses effets sur le cadre de vie des habitants.
