Abstract EN

Abstract: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by long-term complications, including retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy, all of which are closely related to vascular damage.

Studies concerning the pathogenesis, complications, and metabolic control of diabetes are still continuing.

Adiponectin is a novel adipose-specific protein with putative antiatherogenic and anti-inflammatory effects.

Adrenomedullin (ADM) is a vasorelaxing peptide produced from endothelium and smooth muscle cells.

It may act as an antiproliferative factor for vascular smooth muscle cells .ADM is known to decrease the levels of insulin and delay insulin response to oral glucose. The aim of this work is to study the clinical relevance of adiponectin and adrenomedullin in diabetic patients both type 1 and type 2 with and without microvascular diabetic complications ,and assess their role in pathogenesis of these complications..
