This study seeks to discuss the factors of the shift from strategy classification to strategy instruction, based on practical foundations, in pre-university education.

recent studies found that many learners struggle with the comprehension process, which leads to their poor scientific acquisition.

they face difficulties in reading comprehension at different levels due to many factors, and seem not proficient to use reading comprehension strategies, which are inseparable from reading activities.

as reading comprehension can be enhanced through the strategy use, researchers developed strategy instruction models and foundations that help language teachers to engage their students in the reading process and reinforce their reading abilities.

strategy instruction enables learners to become self-comprehenders in an interactive cooperative learning environment.
