Abstract EN

Following the turning events of the 14 January 2011, the door opened wide for different freedoms after breaking dictatorship barriers and toppling the regime.

Freedom of speech emerged as a major asset of protesting movements leading thereby to freedom of the press.

However, in most cases, an editorial guideline and an ideological perspective govern mass media, which goes against their social responsibility for transmitting information as it is without any distortion and offering the opportunity to different directions and views to analyse, interpret, diassemble and discuss all issues notably those that concern social hierarchy.

In this study, I tried to determine the way Tunisian right and left partisan media deals with the terrorist phenomenon, the fact that irked the Tunisian citizen just as successive governments did from 2011 to October 2014, the date of holding the legislative elections.

Reseach findings however have confirmed that partisan media in Tunisia has not lived to the level of social responsibility yet in the treatment of essential issues.

It has remained limited to its ideological conflicts and narrow frames that convict, criminalize, betray and marginalize the other despite the importance of this historical moment in transitional democracy and its requirement to tolerate the different other within a framework of national unity
