Abstract EN

Funeral prayer is deemed by jurisprudents as a collective obligation according to the majority of scholars.

However, jurisprudents have disagreed on the place of its performing: whether it is permissible or not to perform it inside mosques.

Given the importance of this issue as funeral prayer is commonly performed in mosques in most Islamic countries nowadays, the researcher found it pertinent to contribute to this topic that tackles a need for all people and to study a valuable treatise by Sheikh Abdulghani al-Nabulsi al-Hanafi which deals with this topic under the title “Ruling on Performing Funeral Prayers in Mosques".

In this treatise, he discusses the ruling on performing funeral prayer in mosques according to jurisprudents, especially in the Hanafi School, since the author is one of the late Hanafi editors.

The researcher comments on the parts which need to be clarified and the parts in which the researcher thinks the author of the treatise has missed the point.

Moreover, the researcher points out the preponderance of the majority adopting the permissibility of performing funeral prayer in mosques.
