This paper focuses on: "Islam in the view of the other: the issue of protection and acculturation".

the other means the different in terms of the scope of reading, identity, and imaginary i.e.

the western mind', in general.

indeed, Islam was either inadequately read or in a subjective, impartial way in some orientalist studies.

among the recurrent claims in the western thought, the origin of terrorism has its basis in the Arabic Islamic world.

as a consequence and to avoid its impact on the western mind, protection has become a necessity.

such opinion is based on the assertion that the Arabic culture is savage, anthropologically, whereas the western culture is a culture of mind and civilization.

other intellectuals, however, highlight the importance of openness and acculturation to understand and interact with Islam without prejudices.

obviously, such approach is more tolerant and scientific.

this paper, therefore, scrutinizes this issue by reading and interpretation to present a research that is linked to the modern and contemporary.
