Abstract EN

The study aimed to construct a scale to measure faculty members' attitudes toward university testing according to Thurstone method for equal appearing intervals.To achieve the objectives of the study, (40) items were presented to measure the attitudes toward university testings to (37) experts to classify the content of each item in terms of the preference degree or lack of preference for the attitude's subject.

The scaling values of the items were calculated, and (30) items were selected to be distributed along the continuum at approximately equal dimensions in the scaling values.

The scale has many validity and reliability indicators.

The results showed positive and weak attitudes that faculty members have towards the university's testing, where the total mean was (7.17).

The attitudes of female faculty members toward the university's tests were better and more homogeneous than male faculty members.

However, the stand of scientific faculties on the tests was better and more homogenous than that of the humanities.

Moreover, the attitudes of faculty members attending specialized training courses in the field of tests were better than their peers who have not attended the course.

The study recommended the use of the attitudes scale.

In addition, it studied the compatibility between the Thurstone's methods in the selection of the items of the scales toward university tests which were prepared in this study.
