Abstract EN
The cochleo-vestibular toxicity was reported by some authors without giving objective arguments.
Our clinical and empiric study tries to identify this disorder.
Forty four anesthesia technicians were included in this study.
We realized tonal audiometry and videonystagmography for all patients.
Tonal audiometry showed a sensorineural hearing loss only in 11, 9% of cases.
The mean of threshold was 35,75dB.
In videonystagmography, abnormalities of peripheral vestibular system found in 47, 6%, on the other hand abnormalities of central tests were shown in 81% of cases.
In the statistic study, having an age superior to 45 years with women gave more vestibular abnormalities but without significant correlation.
Exposure length less than 15 years gave more central vestibular abnormalities but without significant difference.
In our study, contrary to hearing loss, vestibular disorders were more frequent compared to general population.
They should be caused by central origin in 81% of cases.
