Abstract EN

The present article aims to deevelop the Algerian version of the parent stress scale developed by berry and jones (1995).

after translating it from English into Arabic, it was administred to a sample of 165 parents of infants suffering from language and behavioral problems.

a factor analysis was carried out to assess its dimensionality.

after refining the scale, we obtained two factors sollution that accounted for 47.48 % of the variance with the «parental satisfaction» and «demands on the ressourses».

internal consistancy was good for both subscales (0.70-0.78) and for the total scale (0.80).

the pss Algerian version is an effective and appropriate measure for use with parrents of infants suffering from language and behavioral problems and it has 14 items that response to clinicians’ and researchers’ need for a shorter measure of parenting stress.
