Abstract EN
The study aimed to reveal the relationship between self-concept, adaptive Behavior, and some demographic variables (age - gender).
Also, the study aimed to define the relationship between self-concept and the adaptive behavior of the children who are able to learn.
The scale of self-concept and adaptive behavior (prepared by the researchers) was applied on (n = 50) mentally retarded children who are able to learn.
The study concluded that there are statistically significant differences between age according to self-concept in favor of older age, and gender according to self-concept with its components of mentally retarded children who are able to learn in favor of males.
And, there are statistically significant differences between age according to the adaptive behavior in favor of older age, and gender according to the adaptive behavior of mentally retarded children who are able to learn in favor of females.
Also, the study concluded that there is a positive relationship between both the self-concept and the adaptive behavior, whenever the self-concept increased, the level of the adaptive behavior increased.
