Abstract EN

This research deals with governance and its service and administrative institutions in Bahrain before 1834.

After Al-Khalifa took power in Bahrain in 1783, the system of government is tribal, but it is chosen within the ruling family, unlike what is customary in tribal societies that adhere to heredity.

The principle of participation in government, where power was divided between the two branches of Abdullah, who took from Muharraq as their capital, Salman's family and the center of their rule in Manama, and despite the attempts of the numerous Abdullah family to monopolize the rule, this was achieved only in 1834.

Due to the importance of Bahrain in the Arabian Gulf region, it attracted the attention of the British East India Company and appointed an agent there in the twenties 19th century to take account of its own interests.

Most of these agents were Persians or Indians As for the conditions of the service institutions, the education was limited to what the students in the religious schools and schools of traditional sciences such as reading, writing and memorizing the Koran and the account, and the health conditions were very poor there was no care or health awareness, the administrative institutions have derived the decisions of the courts of Islamic law and custom The security situation was characterized by a small number of soldiers assigned to the regime and known as Fadawi.

The British presence had a similar strength to protect them.

The financial system relied mainly on the taxes imposed on pearls and customs.
