The liability for deck cargo has long deviated from general cargo liability, essentially on the grounds that the goods stowed on deck are exposed to external risks related to weather, such as waves, wind, sun exposure… even though the risks these days involved in deck carriage have decreased considerably due to technological development and the introduction of the container in the shipping industry.

As a result the amount of cargo carried on deck have increased .

This paper aims to study the Special Regime of Maritime Carrier Liability of deck carriage under the international conventions that organize the carriage of goods by sea .Considering that the Hague rules, take very different approaches to the issue of deck cargo from the Hamburg and Rotterdam rules.
