The study aimed to identify the relationship between the prevailing social control patterns and the level of ambition among secondary school students.

The researcher used the Associative descriptive.

To achieve the objective of the study, a questionnaire used to identify the use patterns of social control by the researcher (2005), and verified its validity and reliability.

It consisted of (47) paragraphs, distributed on two fields (first field: penalties, second fields: bonuses,) and Also it used a questionnaire is prepared too by the level of ambition that Jawideh (2015) consisted of (42) items distributed on five dimensions, The sample of the study consisted of (367) students from fourth Oman Directorate students.

The results showed that the more social control patterns used in the area of penalties: blaming/ punishing the irregularities that you made and in the area of bonuses "promoting good behavior publically in front of students, results showed that the level of ambition of students that have high degree, with a mean (2.4), results also showed that there is no relationship between the prevailing patterns of social control and the level of students’ ambition, there were significant statistically differences in the social control patterns due to the variable sex, and also there were statistically significant differences at the in term of ambition due to the variable sex.
