Abstract EN

This research aims at surveying the movement of renewal in rhetoric in the Arabic World.

As renewal in the field of rhetoric has a tight relationship with Modernism; we tried to precise the notions of Modernism and it circumstances.

Researchers had not agreed on a single definition of Modernism which reflected on renewal in rhetoric as well.

We find three directions concerning the latter; those who see renewing rhetoric by a renaissance of old rhetoric; those who see renewing it starting from modern western studies; and those who see renewing rhetoric through finishing old uncompleted projects in the field.

After all this; we notice that renewal in rhetoric has never overcame the theoretical level to an applied model.
