Abstract EN

This study aimed at investigating the effect of an instruction programme based on narrative approach in the development of listening skills for sixth basic grade students in Jordan, the researchers have written alist of listening skills(comprehension, tasting, and criticism)of the auditory texts to use them in preparing an instructional tool which consists of two equal tests-pretest and posttest-to measure the performance of the study sample in listening skills.

the sample of the study consisted of 152 male and females students.

they were distributed over two groups : the first represents the experimental group (male, female) taught through instruction programme based on narrative approach, and the second represents the control group students ( male , female) in the academic year 2014/2015, they deliberately selected from Asma bent Abi Bakr mixed school and Dirar ibn al-Azwar primary school for males, were intentionally chosen because of their location and cooperation with the researches.

the findings of the study showed that there are statistical significant differences at the level of (α = 0.05) between the experimental group and the control group in the total score and the sub scores of the listening skills in the favor of the experimental group indicating the effectiveness of using instruction programme in developing listening skills creative , and there is an effect of sex variable on the developing of listening skills, and there is no significant effect of the interaction between the teaching method and gender of the student on listening skills.
