Penal mediation is one of the most important developed alternatives to public proceedings which has introduced in many criminal legislations, including Algerian law through the amendment of criminal procedure code under the order 15/02.

penal mediation is a form of resolving disputes that has penal nature based on the participation of in individuals in criminal justice through the idea of negotiation between offender and victim attempting to repair crime effects and preserve social connections, and that is through the intervention of a mediator.

however, some provisions of this system in Algerian law still require some adjustments in order to achieve desired aims.
