The study aimed to test the impact of a counslling process based on the rational emotive theory in mathematics achievement and changing attitudes toward.

The sample of the study was consisted of 14 pupils(male and female).

After statistical treatment, the results were as follow : - There are differences between the pre and post test in favour of the post test reveling that the counselling process has influenced achievement in fisrt year secondary school pupils.

- There are differences between the pre and post test in favor of the post test in first year secondary school pupils attitudes toward mathematics.
