Every nation has its own heritage which forms its collective memory, and reveals its attitudes toward things and conceptions of how matters are.

jokes constitute some of what that heritage consists of, no matter to whom they are related.

i have singled out for the purposes of my paper here those jokes whose heroes are the Arab linguists and grammarians.

the importance of this study lies in that it sheds lights on the image people draw in their collective imagination of the ones who are supposed to contribute to the development of their society and to promote people’s awareness of their identity.
