Abstract EN

This research was carried out at Um Al Quain District (United Arab Emirates) to study the situation of goats as economical animal and its production potentials and how to improve them.The district is divided to 4 geographical areas, and random samples (100) of goat owners were chose to answer a questionnaire which contained 39 questions that reflect the situation of goats in the District.

Results revealed that 80% of the owners were males, 50% of the owners were uneducated, the average grazing area was 2.2 feddan for the individual owner and the main purpose of goat rearing is meat production (53%).

Questionnaire revealed that, the main breeds in the District were Local breed (81%).Also the flock average was 62.2.

As far as management systems was concerned, the results showed that it was good in the District and the owners suggest supplementation of clean water and good nutrition will help in the owners settlement.
