Abstract EN

This study aims to identify the reality of the printed media in Palestine in the light of the development of communication technology by monitoring the reality of its practice and developing proposals that will promote and develop it.

This study belongs to the descriptive research using the survey method, so the method of surveying the media practice was used.

The researchers used the theories of the contact person and the spread of innovations.

The data was collected by the investigative newspaper and the personal interview tool.

The study community was represented by journalists working in the printed media in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

The questionnaire was distributed to a random sample of (188) between 2 May, 2017 and 20 June, 2017.

The study resulted that the printed media in Palestine adopts modern technological methods by 86.8% and encourages its use by 85.0%.

The belief of 77.4% of journalists is that communication technology will make the relationship between the digital media and the printed one in Palestine a competitive relationship, and the relationship of integration with a relative average of 73.4%.

In the opinion of 82.4% of journalists, the information and communication technology has greatly affected the printed newspapers in Palestine in the concept, performance and development.

The study recommends that the printed press in Palestine should go to the opinion, article, analysis, investigative journalism and creation of new contents that will serve as interactive and participatory materials for future generations; it has to provide new content different from what is published in the online version to motivate the audience to follow up.

Also, it should benefit from the promotion and use of new technologies and platforms in order to achieve integration and keep abreast of developments.
