Abstract EN

The present study aimed at identifying determining the extent of acquisition for basic 3rd graders for visual thinking skills included in the Science and life book.

The researcher has used the analytical descriptive method.

The study sample contains pictures and drawings existed in the 3rd grade Science book for the first semester 2017 /2018.The sample includes (169) male and female 3rd graders.

the researcher has made a list of visual thinking skills that include the following five skills: visual distinction, analyzing information visually ,realizing the relations visually, explaining information visually and deducing the meaning.

The researcher has also made a content analyzing tool in order to use it for the content of the 3rd grade Science book .Moreover, the researcher has built a test to measure how much the students acquire from the visual thinking skills.

The most important study findings: There are statistically significant differences between the presumptive general average (70%) and the genera l average of the visual thinking skills test, There are no statistically significant differences between male and female 3rd grade students in the west Gaza region, regarding visual thinking levels.
