Abstract EN

The goal of the study was to investigate the importance of office hours for faculty members at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University in achieving effective academic communication.

The study was investigated based on the perspective of the student.

The areas were investigated are reasons contributed to student benefit and the lack of communication, and their suggestion for effective office hours for faculty members.

Therefore, the study followed quantitative approach.

The tool was a survey questionnaire that applied to a sample of female students of Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University.

The sample was 1045 female student from College of human science, scientific, and health science.

However, the responded sample was only 710 students.

Further, the survey constructed into four categorized which are; the importance of office hour, areas of benefits for the student, reasons lead to the lack of benefit, and student’s suggestions to activate office hour.

The results of the study showed that students responded for the four-research areas are the following Sequentially : 64.8% natural, 74.8% agree, 62.8% natural, and 74.8% agree.

The study recommended that set a university system for faculty office hours for all academic departments, setting specific procedures to ensure faculty member commitment, adopt electronic communication between students and faculty member as office hour.
