English Abstract
The lifespan of business models is continuously shrinking and, consequently, businesses are facing the need to renovate their business models much more frequently than before.
With a "stale" business model, a business becomes at risk of not being able to sustain itself; let alone reap the benefits which new opportunities may bring.
This thesis presents a qualitative exploratory research that aims to define the constituents of transformability in IT-based organizations and provide guidance on how to ascend to higher levels of transformability.
For that, the research uses a grounded theory approach to construct a substantive theory; in particular, a code system that can be referenced by IT-based organizations.
The study uses theoretical sampling and the constant comparative method to identify required participants and to analyze interview data respectively.
The resulting code system identifies forty-nine codes that represent the constituents of transformability, arranged under thirteen main categories.
