Abstract EN

This study aims to identify the obstacles that limit the role of clans’ elders of social control in the villages of the southern West Bank.

Toward that end, a qualitative analysis was adopted in this study, and a simple random sample was undertaken to meet the paper objectives The most important findings of this study revealed that all clans’ elders are with different directions of their opinions.

Citizens properly do not go to the Palestinian courts except some critical issues such as murder.

The results also show a mismatch between formal and informal clans’ elders regarding intervention of the Palestinian political factions and Palestinian police.

However, Council of clans is necessary to be developed in Palestine, and it is recommended to be working independently.

In addition, more studies on obstacles the role of clans’ elders are necessary to be taken into consideration for future research.
