The issue of definition in the historical dictionary of Arabic, is one of the issues that is attracting linguists and lexicographers' attention, as providing in adequate and exhaustive of words that constitute major entries in the historical dictionary helps the reader or any researcher to have access to what he/ she is looking for in his/ her scientific and academic research.

It also facilitates his/ her task when encountering difficulties in finding the right words in his/ her writing.

However, the historical dictionary of Arabic that has not been established yet represents the biggest obstacle, because it dates the development of words over period of time as other nation that established their historical dictionary, the oxford English dictionary provides a particularly salient example in this regard.
