Abstract EN

In this paper, I try to highlight the cultural and religious aspects of Algeria and the most important sciences and knowledge that were widespread during the Ottoman era and beyond (1700-1900).

The work is based on a rare manuscript obtained from the National Library El-Hama (Algeria) titled “Al-Qawl al-ahwat fi bayani ma tadawala mina al-olum wa kutubiha bi al-maghribayn al-aqsa wa al-awsat” by the French Orientalist Georges Delphin.

The manuscript is the fruit of his stay in Oran (1340 AH – AD 1922); he taught Arabic and studied dialects for the purpose of facilitating them to the French people.

Delphin has many researches on Islam and the history of religion in Algeria
