Abstract EN

This study aimed at measuring the effectiveness of cognitive strategies educational program on the Speaking skills in English language among 6th grader students .

The study was conducted in the second semester of the scholastic year 2014/2015.The sample consisted of (112) 6th grade students whom selected purposely from Nadeem AL Malah School which follows Wadi Alsir Education Directorate .The e sample divided into two groups :experimental group consisted of (57) students, and control group (55) students.

To achieve the study goals the researcher built a notice card for speaking skills , and the researcher guaranteed its validity and reliability, as well as the researcher built an instructional program based on meta-cognitive strategies upon five units from English language course for 6th grade .

The researcher applied the program upon experimental group in 2nd semester in scholastic year 2014/2015 , while control group studied in the conventional way .

The study unveiled that there is a statistically significant at the level of (α = 0.05) to the instructional program based on meta-cognitive strategies on speaking in English language among 6th grade students .

The researcher recommended that : - English teachers should use meta-cognitive strategies in their lessons for its effect on developing Speaking skills .

- English teachers should pay more attention to build activities according to meta- cognitive strategies which demand reflecting on knowledge and the efficacy of used strategies, and promote students to exchange ideas.
