Abtha city is located in the central region of Andalusia.

It is one of the works of Koura Gyan and on the Great Valley to the east of Córdoba.

It was opened by Muslims in 92 AH / 710 CE and was resettled by the BaniYamar ,Arabic Shami tribe.

The Islamic rule lasted more than five centuries.

The city witnessed important events, including the revolution of Ibn Hafsoun, the city was the scene of its events about thirty years, and since the sixth century / 12th century AD, the region has become a rich border and was subjected to many attacks by the Christians, and paved the way for the capture of many revolutions such as revolution Bani Mardanish and Ibn of Hamashk and finally the movement of Bayasi Almohadi, which combined to his authority, which weakened the power of Muslims and facilitate of its fall after they annihilated its people.
