The researchers interests in studying the Fatimid history in the Maghrebian phase is relatively few compared to the Fatimid studies in the Egyptian phase, including the issue of the external relations of the Fatimid state, especially the Fatimid-Byzantine relations which represent an aspect of the Islamic-Byzantine conflict in the Mediterranean region, these relations were characterized by periods of sporadic peace dominated by regional interests and regional and international motives, it emerged clearly during the reign if the fourth Fatimid caliphate “al-mu’izz ideen Allah”, who was busy confronting his rivals the Abbasid in the Orient and the Umayyad in Andalusia, and preparing for the transition to Egypt and extend his authority over the entire land of Islam, on the other hand, the Byzantines since the 4thA.H/10thA.D century faced political and military threats from all neighboring regions depleted their efforts, faced with this situation, neither the Fatimid nor the Byzantine were prepared to gain a new enemy, there were even immediate and far-reaching interests between the two parties, contributed significantly to those compromises, and imposed on the ground periods of peace between the two sides.
