Abstract EN

The paper deals with the poet Seamus Heaney's method in depending on the images of "the bog" which is a symbol of memory and as a repository of the sacrificial experiences in favor of a promise of a next prosperity.

The poet tries to make an analogy between the tribal sacrificial rituals with one of its member in exchange for a coming fertile spring and the catholic minority's contemporary sacrifices in Northern Ireland for the sake of peace in a united Home.

Furthermore, the poet is torn between the tribal allegiance and the atrocity of the sacrifice
