Abstract EN

This article discusses the role of the League of Arab States in fighting against terrorism in the Post-Arab movement, in an attempt to find out the reasons for the failure of the League to be the unified and the influential actor in countering this threat.

I compared the political, legal and military mechanisms that are supposed to define the role that the League of Arab States envisions in facing the growing threat of terrorism and we focus on its effective role in finding the consensus and the difference between the rule and the application.

We also use an historical, descriptive and analytical approach to reconstruct the events to seek the truth.

The study revealed the failure of the League of Arab States in confronting the terrorist threat as a unified actor, for many reasons, including those related to the chaos and instability of the Arab movement, and for other reasons such as the structural weakness of the League of Arab States, as well as the perception of the terrorist threat itself.

The role of the League in countering terrorism goes beyond individual or regional accounts, but rather to review the structure of the Arab regimes, the balances within the League and the international consensus regarding the fate of the region as a whole.
