September 11th attacks brought the post-cold war period to an abrupt end, and it seemed obvious that 9/11 solved the ‘threat deficit’ problem for the US, with the WOT (War On Terrorism) providing a dominant securitization around which US foreign policy could be organized.

This article assesses the new worldwide American policy aftermath 9/11,from the perspective of the Copenhagen School of Security Studies, through Barry Buzan’s idea of ‘Macro-securitization’, which states that the WOT was framed by the American government in a macro-securitization way aftermath 9/11, in order to reinforce and legitimize its military and foreign policy.

Therefore, will the WOT Macro-securitization succeed in legitimizing the US unilateralism and the shift towards a more hierarchical form of International Society?
