The aim of this article is to cast light on the institutional mechanisms, developed by the African regional organizations, continental and subcontinental, to manage and settle the conflicts ongoing within its geographical scope.

This institutionalization trend has gained momentum since the end of the Cold War.

Many new changes have urged those organizations to reconsider their security institutional structures through developing their traditional mechanisms and inventing new mechanisms not only for the management and settlement of conflicts, but also in order prevent them before they break out or to contain them before they escalate.
