Optical fiber loop mirror applications : a review

Abstract EN

Selected designs for optical fiber loop mirror applications are introduced, demonstrated and discussed in this work.

These applications are all-optical signal demultiplexing, fiber loop amplifier, continuous-wave fiber laser, and path protection switch.

The performance of each application is analyzed.

The design of path protection switch is introduced for the first time to our knowledge.

A 10 Gbps modulated signal is successfully routed to a different path using such a novel design.

These selected applications can be used to enable all-optical networks.
