Abstract EN

The purpose of the study was to identify the level of psychological burnout of the football referees in Saudi Arabia.

A descriptive survey method was used on a stratified sample of (132) referees from the Saudi Football Federation.

It has been applied a measured scale the “Slash list of psychological burnout” after measuring validity and reliability (Weinberg & Richardson, 1977) ; translated by Allawi (1998) .

The results indicated that the referees suffer from psychological stress, the level of stress ranged from (a very low, low and to medium degree).

The results also indicated that there are statistically significant differences between the referees at (0.5) level of psychological stress due to the referees level in favor of the international class, followed by the first level and then the second.

Experience and age variables have indicated no significant differences in psychological stress among the referees.

Finally, the researcher recommends more studies and tests on a regular basis in order to prepare and enhance the referees mentally and psychologically in order to be able to manage the matches well.
