Abstract EN

As an independent field of investigation, El Hadith celebrates a respectable status amongst scholars.

A status highly respected to the extent that it's created its own terminology.

Nonetheless, after minute scrutiny, there seems to be a sort of mayhem in using this terminology, depending, most likely, on the context and intention.

Therefore, some terms remained undefined due to the fact that their meanings were ostensible.

This paper aims at deepening in the aforesaid discipline to tackle the scholars of it.

Deeper still, the current study scrutinizes two basic concepts; knowledge and the acquisition of it.

We attempt to define the two concepts according to their context of use, both historically and realistically.

We also, to reach our desideratum, count on Quran, Sunah, and classical Arabic to define and trace the effect of the two concepts on praising and disclaiming of scholars.
