Abstract EN

This paper aims to clarify how to evaluate the Algerian institutions of higher education performance using a data envelopment analysis method based on the concept of benchmarking.

To achieve this the study relied on the five inputs and outputs values of quantity, and reflect the dimensions of the teaching, learning and scientific research and are : total of students enrolled in graduation, and students enrolled in post graduation, permanent professors, students graduates, and scientific publications.

After applying the data envelopment analysis method, the study reached models that there is variation in the performance of the Algerian institutions of higher education from one academic year to another, and its weak performance is caused by either inefficient internal processes or poor environmental conditions.
