The questions of food safety evoked a wide international attention seen in the speed of the a wide international attention seen in the speed of the population growth and the distribution of the poverty on the world leveL besides climate change, and the reduction of natural resources, especially in water, and a weakening of the productivity', not to mention the increase of price foods, all these factors deteriorated the gap between production capacities and consumption, and consequently', food msecunty.In this context.

Algeria gave a priority for the food industry, by its potentiality' to supplythe food needs, and to be the most important customer of agricultural production and besides itscreation of the posts of employment.

The present article aims to highlight the importance of the food industry in Algeria and itsrole in the employment: of its contribution m the GDP and the added value creation, it also airnsat underlining the contribution of this sector to assure the food safety’ in Algeria and theconstraints which affect its capacity to assure the food safety.The study lias reached a number of results, the most important of which is that the food industry plays an important role in achieving food security; nevertheless, the contribution of this sector in Algeria in covering food needs remains very limited.
