Abstract EN

This research specify the stream of wastewater in the Wadi Alhamdh north of Al-Madinah Al- Munawara an environmental geography study, in order to monitor the spatial variability of vegetation cover over the last twenty four year, for the purpose of matching the conditions of the treated water stream to the standard term.

the study is based on addressing multi-spectral satellite imagery using time series analysis approach from1990 until2014.to detect the spatial variability change detection, through the use of normalized differential vegetation index(ndvi), in addition to the analysis of physical and chemical hydrological changes in the wastewater in different locations of the stream for the year 2014.

in form of analysis of the physical indicators, (ph, salinity, alkalinity, total dissolved salts, electrical conductivity, turbidity) and the chemical indicators of basic mineral elements, (calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, and iron) and heavy metal elements, (chromium, copper, manganese, mercury, zinc and lead) analysis of biomarkers like biochemical oxygen demand (bod), and chemical oxygen demand (cod), in addition to the analysis of some nutrients (phosphorus bombs, nitrate, ammonia, and nitrites).the study came out that the vegetation growth along the stream of the sewage plant; estimated vegetation coverage area in 2013 was 36.42km2with 5.65٪ of the total area of the study areaversus15.23km2, 2.36٪ of the total study area in 1990.

the study also shows a general decline in plant coverage after 2013.

the human malpractices and the different quality of the wastes that have been thrown into the stream, is the reason for the differences in the hydrological characteristics of the water from one place to another along the stream, in addition, to high organic load of the water, the high turbidity rates and the increase concentration of the element chromium in the water.

in general the wastage water near the exit of alkhaleel station is the most compatible water with the standards set by the ministry of water and electricity.
