Abstract EN
Xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis is a severe inflammatory process, which gives rise to dense adhesions that complicate cholecystectomy.
Four cases of significant injuries to the main biliary passages and surrounding structures are discussed.
We suggest greater caution in the dissection of the gall bladder, a lower threshold for early conversion, examining frozen sections in suspicious cases and accurate preoperative diagnosis whenever possible.
