English Abstract

Solid Waste Management (SWM) is an integral part of public health and environmental control.

Improper SWM leads to both economic and environmental sufferings.

SWM includes control of generation, storage, collection, transfer/transport, processing and disposal of waste.

Almost all factors related to SWM has both spatial and non-spatial components, thus, traditional ways of storing and analyzing data keeps data in isolated form, which results in inefficient management system.

This research introduces the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) in the field of SWM especially in collection field.

This research aims to optimize municipal solid waste management of bins using GIS that enables organizations to save cost and time, reduce workload, improve serviceability, respond to customers in less time, solve any problem that arise quickly, increase profit generation, and evaluate the current status of the distributed bins that showing the related defects in distribution.

This research aims to solve the irregular distribution of bins and redistribute the recycle bins of all Nusseirat c to allow the collection process getting less cost, save time and make the shortest path for the trucks to collect the bins.

The methodology of the research is based on collecting the necessary information for the bins analysis process and then starting the field surveying of the bins in the current situation and then using the GIS program in the process of analysis and distribution of bins in accordance with the required criteria for bins distribution, Then GIS will be used to identify the shortest routes for trucks to collect these bins ,Then conclusions and recommendations will be consider in this regard ,Noting that all this shown in the GIS technics by using special data analysis using (location allocation).

The research will illustrate that the number of bins in the city of Nusseirat does not fully cover the city, although the number of buildings in some areas is very large, which requires the city of new bins in them.

The actual number of containers in Nusseirat 222 bins and the number of bins to which the various standards apply according to the above requirements which the municipality needs in order to fully cover the city 395 bins.

The municipality needs to supply 173 bins.

At the other hand the analysis showed that the number of 300 bins is not reached by trucks because the capacity of trucks is inadequate compared to the amount of waste in bins.

Finally, the researcher recommends the use of GIS in the administration, especially the management of solid waste and the consideration of it mainly in the general system of municipalities working in the Gaza Strip.

He also recommends to give the collection of solid waste apart of attention because it is important in the development of cities and gives it a wonderful cultural landscape.
